WHAT IS THIS THE INTRODUCTION TO?
FICTIONALISED VERSIONS OF REAL-LIFE ACTIVITIES have an indefinable authenticity.
Callum and a couple of other no-holds-barred FETTERS experimenters appear in different disguises on this site; as the fire-fighter in the story ‘Houdini Connections’, and both leading characters in ‘Man-to-man Stuff’. Many of the experiences, ideas and opinions these characters express are what people like Callum have said or asked - or expressed a wish to experience.
Other people’s writings basing their real life experiences appear on this site (ADD A LIST??). Is it in the details or a more general air of authenticity which makes stories like ‘Top Ridge Farm’ and ‘Happy Birthday Boss’ convince the reader that the author knew what he was talking about - even if the action gets a bit too colourful to be totally convincing. Truth is, in fact, often stranger than fiction. I have certainly experienced for real some totally unbelievable happenings.
The subject of ‘heightened reality’ is discussed elsewhere. Not just the differences between fact and fantasy, but any Wishful Think extensions of the real thing staying within the boundaries of physical possibility.
I need to track down several texts already on site which explore the differences between the possible and the impossible, even the basic distinction between a fantasy and an objective. Somewhere there’s an article I wrote about people with a comfortable fantasy that would be hell if it became an actual experience. Alternatively many people have a dream scenario which they would truely like to experience for real. A whole range of “Wishful Thinking” alternatives would make a good topics page. I may need input from others to get this together.
Let’s be hearing from you.
