HOUDINI CONNECTIONS
"CALLUM BUCHANAN"
in
FACT & FANTASY
|
|
|
|
|
This memorable character already featured on several different pages of HOUDINI CONNECTIONS
before recent updates (April 2008).
As a result of posting the 'Sports Index' (December 2007), requests poured in for more information about his various exploits.
In particular the following e-mail encouraged me to do some serious thinking back to a memorable event.

6th February 2008
E-message received from a visitor to HOUDINI CONNECTIONS site ...
Hi Jim ... The description of hard-man "Big Callum" helplessly self-trussed up in diving gear in his basement being unexpectedly interrupted - and the intruder deciding to take a few liberties ... was one of the hottest descriptions I've read in a long time.
Was it really true or a made-up story?

I REPLIED - SAME DAY
The man himself was real alright!
So is practically all the information about him already on site:
His early correspondence, hiding his kinks from his mates, tough training and self-challenge, detailed descriptions of his elaborate
self-applied boundage routines are now all listed in the CALLUM INDEX ...
BUT ... sadly ... the situation of him being discovered by a mate while self-strapped and helpless
did not happen exactly as described in the version you read in INTRUDER STORY Your enthusiastic response to this 'scenario' encouraged me to look again at the difference between the real-life event and the fiction that grew out of it. To protect the two main participants, what actually happened on that memorable occasion has never before been told ... until now.
The reality was more dramatic and scary than the fictional version. I know because I was there while it was happening.
Now, almost twenty years later, it can be told - and perhaps truth is not only stranger than fiction ...
it's HOTTER. Enjoy reading the next file in the Callum series = INTRUDERS - THE REAL EVENT

While thinking back to that incident, many
more vivid recollections of time spent with this memorable character promise to turn into new pages. Dozens of related topics discussed, physical challenge situations speculated on and experimented with during his visits to London, my trips to his remote home in Scotland or travelling with him; hours of discussion about Houdini-connected topics.
Many ideas we explored found their way into my stories as fiction-based-on-real-life-experience'.
Two topics, in particular, now feature so widely across this site
they each have an index to link together references buried in both factual and fictional texts scattered around the site.
